Latest project completed at our Le Havre Boiler Works (DPC) facility:
➡️ Complete relining of a heat exchanger shell for a client in the Oil & Gas sector.
These operations involve applying a metal, generally a more noble one, to the part being coated.
There are many reasons why a coating is necessary:
🔹 Sourcing a solid stainless steel part would be too costly,
🔹 A part that must be made of carbon steel due to mechanical requirements but requires a coating for corrosion resistance,
🔹 Rebuilding worn or corroded parts,
🔹 etc…
Technical specifications:
Box weight: 3.8
Calculation conditions: 78 bar at 322°C
Base material: Grade 11 alloy steel (1.25% Cr, 0.5% Mo) with a thickness of 35 mm.
Preheating to 200°C for assembly welds
Preheating to 100°C for build-up welds
309L + 347 stainless steel cladding; thickness between 4.5 and 6 mm
Post-heating to 350°C for assembly welds
No post-heating for build-up welds
Final heat treatment at 680°C
Welding methods used: TIG, coated electrodes, submerged arc, electroslag
For assembly welds: TIG, coated electrodes, submerged arc
For build-up welding: electroslag, coated electrodes
